STINGS

Set against the restless streets of Taipei, Stings is a 19-minute narrative short directed by Japan-based Canadian filmmaker Xavier Tera. Through the intersecting lives of multiple characters, the film unfolds as a poetic portrait of urban survival—one shaped by past trauma, present realities, and fleeting encounters that alter the course of their lives.

Capturing both the harshness and tenderness found in the city’s overlooked corners, Stings explores the resilience of those learning to endure, confront, and transform. The film screened at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival and was selected for the Taipei Film Festival.
